I am refreshing my suspension and have got new spherical bearings for the rear lower wishbones that are 3/8 bore (not from radical) and new spindle pins which are 10mm from radical.

These are for pre2002 clubsport suspension. ANyone know which is correct? I think 3/8 is, but won't know for sure until I take apart the rear suspension. I'd rather have the right bits to go straight back together.

Tks

Spindles are 3/8", if you are getting them from Radical make sure you state they are 3/8" and also quote the right length. I mention this because there are several variations of the spindle bolt and I've sent my fair share of wrong ones back to Radical in the past.

mmm, I take that back, the pins are not 10mm, they are 3/8, but are too tight for a push fit by hand.

ETA, they are certainly too long. WOuld I expect the spherical bush to sit on the plain or threaded part of the pin?

Yeah the plating that they put on the spindles makes them a tight fit, a bit of emery will sort that.

Not unsual for the threaded part of the spindle to be on the bearing (both ends)

Right, I have taken the old rear lower wishbones off. From what I can work out there are three generations of clubsport rear lower wishbones.

The first (what I have) has a rod end screwed directly into a threaded hole in the wishbone and the plastic bush arrangement at the other end. It uses a rear anti-roll bar.

The second (what I am upgrading to) uses a threaded adjuster for the rod end and a spherical bush pressed into the wishbone. Still a rear anti roll bar. I think this is referred to as pre-2002 wishbones.

The third has the same arrangement of rod end and spherical bush, but has the niklink rather than a usual arb.

So back to the spindle, the one they sent me was for the 1st generation and too long for the 2nd generation. Measuring the diameter, the one I took out was a couple of thou undersize (3/8th) and the replacement (which is too long anyway) is a couple of thou oversize which is why it doesn't go through the spherical bush.

So hopefully the right length one will be the right diameter too!

PS it's amazing that the old spindle pin should be bent!

The bending is caused by the plastic bush, it can only flex so far then the bar has to give. I've done one race on a new bar and afterwards its been bent with the early style wishbones. The sperical ones are better but bending can still occur, more likely after kerb hopping though. I've added them to the list of things to check/replace during pre-race setup.
