I was suprised while testing at Silverstone Friday to be hitting max revs just half way down the main straight? I was running a 47 tooth rear sprocket and was hitting about 120MPH... I will need more legs for Castle Combe and think I need to increase max speed by about 15MPH, can anyone tell me how many less teeth would be required to achieve this as I don't want to buy the wrong sprocket.

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,

Most of the info you are asking for is held on the Radical web site - I would try there first

What front sprocket do you have fitted, when i had my clubsport the gearing that radical advised to use as per there web site didn't work for me.
I think that a clubsport has a 15 tooth front sprocket fitted as standard i changed to a 16,one tooth difference on the front = 3 on the rear.

Thanks Simon... The trouble is this info is IMHO wrong as I had a 15 front 47 rear and was topping out half way down the straight? If a Prosport uses a 16 front then maybe I should try a 44 rear as this should give about the same as running a 16 front with a 47 rear..

don't forget if you reduce the rear sprocket by that much you may ned to shorten the chain, depeding where you are on the diff adjustment. Personally I would change the front sprocket first.

It is what I did but moving down to a 15 for the shorter hills and sprints. certainly I think mine had a 16 fitted when I got it.

running a 15-47 at Anglesy I certainly ran out of revs (couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing the gearing just for the occasional long circuit.

If I change the front sprocket will the castle nut thing for the reverse fit back on, I assume I can just buy a standard front sprocket from a ZZR?

yes, and you can buy the sprocket from your local bike dealer, all you will need to know is it a C or a D (i.e dished sprocket or not) cant remember how much it cost, but it was quite reasonable. From memory it should be dished?

Ideally you will need a new tab washer as well, this is a Kawasaki part ~99p. Last sproket I bought from my bike shop was around a fiver

Thanks guys... I bought a 16 Tooth front sprocket today but all the bike shops I tried could not supply a special size sprocket for a C type engine? So I phoned Radical and they had one in stock..... as usual it was a gold plated one with diamond inserts or at least you would have thought so for the £26 plus VAT.. I don't know how they have the nerve to charge at least 100% Profit!
