Has anyone heard the rumour that Silverstone are now rigidly enforcing a 105db noise limit? Apparently at a recent RMA track day, several road cars were sent home without going on track for being too noisy. If true it is not good news for Radical owners, especially those of us with 1500 Busa engines which are difficult to silence without losing a lot of power.

I will be at Silverstone on 1st March for a Goldtrack day with our SR3. Will any of you Radical people be there? If the rumour is true, I will probably have to fit the Radical quiet(er) silencer which I have. However, I have a noise tester and will test that and the full race can, which is unlikely to be within the 105db limit.

Yes they are, or have been hitherto as have all other track days I have attended there. That is why the rumour is so worrying as Silverstone was the last track with a sensible attitude to noise. I just hope that the rumour isn't true.

Melindi says (in a message on my answering machine) that the limit is 105db and I should comply. She thinks an SR3 should be within 105db on a standard exhaust. Does anyone know if this is true - sounds pretty loud to me and it is a new Radical silencer?

If your silencer is packed properly and the wadding is in good nick I think you should be ok. The SR3 is a very popular track day tool! you must be able to get it below 105db. The last time I was at Silverstone there were about six SR3's on track. I am at Snetterton this weekend and assuming we are noise tested I will let you know what the levels are. My 1300 SR3 has a repacked race silencer on it, I also have a big Radical quite box to fit on if necissary.

Did you have the standard Radical race exhaust Simon? If so this is good news.

My SR3 static tested at 101db on Sat at Snett with standard size race silencer. I might have been a bit economical with the revs though!! smokin And no problems on track with drive by. Cheers
