Has anybody replaced the bearings on either end? Are these press fit? Anybody heard of failures, Is re-greasing just a matter of removing the cover?

Thanks,

Colin.

Had a chat with Quaife about this at the show this year. There attitude is that there is nothing to go wrong in them so long as they are greased properly.

Thanks for this. The bearing's are external to the diff and used in the chassis mounts. Any idea what properly greased is? I've no grease nipples on mine which is why I want to remove the cover!

Hi I've canged a few of these as they tend to get noisy. Easy enough job. The old ones push out with a bit of help. To fit the new ones I leave the bearing in a freezer for an hour against the chiller or a bag of peas etc when really cold, get thealloy carrier good and hot with a heat gun or a blow torch then the bearing will simply drop in.

If you find a noisy bearing on race day a libberal dose of WD40 or spray grease will get you through a race. The anular cover on the bearing can be popped out with a screwdriver

When you take the diff out make sure you note the exact position of the shims on each side as they come in different thicknesses

Hope this helps

Simon

Thanks Simon, The bearing are out of the alloy carrier but still attached tightly to the diff by the inner race. Just a case of prying them off then! Did you have any trouble with this?

Colin.
