Lifting front end (SR4)
Discussion
I have an SR4 with the 2006 high downforce bodywork which is very low to the ground at 40mm, but pretty similar to most Radical models. Does anybody have problems lifting the front end with a quick lift jack? The rear is no problem using the jacking point but if I try and lift the front by sliding the quick lift far enough in to be lifting onto (or close to) chassis members then the angle on the upper quick lift bar seems to want to lift the car by the bodywork, not the point where the quick lift "head" is meeting the car. I'm concerned that doing this will result in cracked bodywork and an unwanted Radical credit card bill.
I got a handy tip on getting the car off the ground (thanks Josh) by lifting the rear, sliding a 5" chassis stand under the cockpit rear chassis cross member and then lifting the front by hand on the tow point and sliding another chassis stand under the front. That's all well and good but a bit of a hassle when you just want to pop the front up to change wheels at the track.
How does anybody else go about this?
Nick
