Wondering what you fast guys use as a general set up starting point regarding camber angles, corner weights, ride height etc? From my rather limited experience so far the car is pretty good as it left the factory, but the ride height is a little on the generous side!

Does lowering the front end & leaving the rear alone generally give more front end grip at the expense of a looser rear end? (Oh er!)

Now that would be telling!!!
With set up it really depends on what the car is doing if you had loads of understeer then yes you would alter the rake lower the front.

The best advice is imho is do a test day with someone that knows suspension. Car setup is a very personal thing and having someone to bounce ideas off and understand what you are trying to achieve will save hours in the long run

Drive fast, don't crash biggrin

Don't be put off by the higher ride height as the suspension does compress a fair amount when at full chat. Run the car to low and you'll just end up making grooves in the track. Talking from the clubsport it is pretty easy to get all the corner weights within a few KG of each other. Looking at the tyres at the end of a session will give you an idea of how they are working with your current setup.

Cheers Rob, will try & remember that!

Just wanted to check over the setting in my garage really, I know what sort of base settings make a Caterham work on track & just wanted to see if the car as it left Radical was about right regarding camber angles ride heights etc?

What sort of weight split do you aim for front to rear when corner weighting, unlike a Caterham with its offset driving position it should be a doddle to get the wheels on the same axle to match!

Ignore front rear splits. Unless you have balast to move around and have a handling imbalance to fix.
Aim for even weight across the front with the driver bolted in.

Rob, looking at the tyres will tell you what they are doing you say. The fronts have a build up about 35mm wide approx 80mm in from the inside edge of the tyre, any significance at all, or is that just pick up from the track? Looking at all the tyres the whole surface area has been working at some point. What do you aim for camber wise? Ta!
