Just ordered new tyres for my Clubsport for speed events. They are a slightly different diameter from the previous ones I ran and as a result I need to rais e the ride height at the front of the car by 15mm. Can this be done on the adjuster on top of the strut or is it more complex than that. Any advice would be welcome.

Ride height is changed by moving the spring seat up/down, unless you have adjustable pushrods on the Niklink. Stongly recommended corner weighting the car afterwards as well. Just a thought, 15mm is a large amount and would indicate a tyre profile 30mm bigger. What profile tyres are you going from/to?

Hi Graham,

Well done on the Golspie win in the rain.

You are confusing me by the reference to "the adjuster on top of the strut" , you adjust the ride hight by screwing up the spring pan on the shocks.

What Strut? the Clubsport doesn't have struts as I understand the term.

Cheers,

Angus

Hi Rob and Angus,

Thanks for the replies, I have just ordered 7.2/20/13 fronts and 8.2/22/13 rears. These sizes were determined by the availability of the compound I wanted (A15). My car currently runs 6/21/13 fronts with 7/22/13 rears. However I understand I shouldn't have much problems providing I raise the front of the car by 15mm. Am I right in saying that the 21/22 dimensions refer to the O/D of the tyre, if so then 12.5mm is probably more accurate.

As you have probably guessed my knowledge of suspension/ geometry set up is very limited so any advice would be appreciated. I have a friend who has corner weight scales I am sure would assist me in getting everything right. I could put it to one of the pros but I would rather at least learn a bit about it myself first.

Anyway, what is involved in raising the car the require amount (without upsetting any other settings!)

You are correct that number is the diameter of the tyre so you are looking at a decrease in ride height of about 12mm as you say.

To adjust the height just wind the spring collar to compress the spring, this will move the RH upwards.

One thing to note that any change in the RH will have an effect on all other settings i.e. camber/toe. So you'll need to double check all this once the car is at the right height.
