Hi,

i have problems starting my engine. It´s a zzr1100 with flatslides and dyna ignition.

When i fire the engine it sound like it runs only on 2 or 3 cylinders and it stops running immidiately.
I already changed the sparkplugs. When i take out the sparkplugs and fire the engine there are sparks on all 4 plugs.
The crank trigger sensor is connect as well and the red light on the dyna box goes on and then off after turning the ignition on.

Already checked to engine harness but everything seems okay.

Anybody got an idea what else to check?

Cheers

Oli

Are you sure you are getting fuel? try a quick squirt of easy start and report back.

hi oliver hope you are well and enjoying the car

i had this problem from time to time once the car is started it runs very well i presume this is still the case?

in this case there is nothing wrong with engine.

i suspect that the problem lies with the electrical system. I think that if you check the voltage when starting i think you find that maybe there is not quite 12v maybe a loose connector, tired battery, or a degraded wire

so i think the first thing is to get this checked

also check the third bolt at the bottom of the alternator as it often came loose

hope this helps regards

Hi Barry,

i just sorted the problem.
Let me start from the beginning. On the first trackdays i had the problem when i filled the fuel tank to the top lots of fuel came out under the car. I first thought that i filled in to much gas and that came out of the breather. After some time i got much faster in the corners then the fuel came out even when the tank was only half full. I removed the fueltank and saw the problem. The dyna ignition was installed behind the battery with two screws and a washer. The heads of the screws touched the tank and slowly made two little holes into the tank because the tank moves slighty when you are cornering hard.
I took the tank out and let it weld by a friend. He filled the tank with water so it could not explode during welding. I filled the tank with two times with fuel and drained it to get the water out. Then i reinstalled the tank the problem started.Checked the whole electrical system over and over again but could not find anything. Yesterday i removed the bottom screws on each carb an drained the fuel that was inside the carbs. There was some water in two of them.
Reinstalled the screws, ignition on, two times full throttle and the engine runs perfect again.

I have been on 4 trackdays with the car and all tires a now at the end of there life cyle.
I change the setup to run radial tyres which are much softer and easier to get here.

Planing 2 or 3 trackdays this month and with the problems solved it will be great fun.

What about your car? Does it run fine now?

very interesting i will definately take it up with my mechanic who fitted the dyna system apologies for that

regarding the sr3 as usual it took much longer to build and cost much more money than anticipated

honestly i dont think it is any faster than the clubsport but the down force is double so it can lap much faster

my drive shafts keep loosing their grease for some reason

other than that i am very pleased are you glad you bought a clubsport rather than a caterham?

It was the right choice to buy the clubsport.
It is great fun to drive and there are only very few other cars faster than me.
A friend of mine in his R400 was about 2 seconds slower at the nurburgring grand prix circuit, and that was with my tires at the limit.
With the new tires fun will double i guess.

What was your laptime at spa with the SR3
