Clubsport Dry-sump Plumbing Query
Discussion
My quest to put together a dry-sump system for my Clubsport on a shoe string is nearing completion – the oil tank should be delivered from the fabricator this week and I’ll be getting all the plumbing parts from Think Automotive in Twickenham, on Friday.
Could anyone help me with one more query
According to the diagram in the parts list, the breather pot that sits behind and beneath the carbs, is attached using a banjo bolt that passes up through the breather cover and the breather hose banjo and into the thread in the breather pot.
My question is this. Does this banjo bolt have a hole passing right the way through the bolt axis (so that the crank case can breath directly) or is it blind (so the crank case can only breath via the scavenge pump through the oil tank)? Thoughts?

I can't remember how the original Radical installation was done but the easiest way to deal with the breather is run a fitting from the breather cover directly to the oil tank. Then run a vent line to the factory oil overflow/breather can on the left side of the car.
Basically the engine "breathes" into the oil tank (thus keeping the oily vapor in the oil system) but the entire oil system is vented to atmosphere via that original catch tank.
You can sort of see it in this pic from my original Kawasaki dry sump setup. The two blue lines are oil lines. One goes from the breather cover directly INTO the oil tank and the tank is vented via the other line to the catch can on the left side of the car:

Did the same thing with the Hayabusa...the breather goes into the oil tank and the tank itself is vented and is the vent for the whole system:

Mis posted the first pic, THIS is the original kawasaki setup (note the entire "tank" above the breather is gone).

Hi Pete - Thanks for the feedback. Since my original posting, I spoke to Nick at Radical. He confirmed that the banjo bolt that is used in the Radical Kawasaki application (passing up through a hole machined in the original brether cover into the black breather pot) has to have a hole drilled right through the axis. Makes sense, otherwise the scavenge pump would be trying to draw against a vacuum. Obvious really, but since I'd just spent big money on an engine rebuild, I was keen to get it right!
Thanks again
Laurence

Hi Prawn
The process of sorting out a dry sump system for my Clubsport has been a prolonged saga that I wont bore you with here - I plan to post some feedback on the forum once I get it all up and running. In the meantime, gimme a call if you'd like to discuss (you have email)
Cheers
