Looks fantastic Danny (and Andrew). Tell us more about the driving experience.

Me first in the passenger ride queue please!

Is that black one yours? If so, I see you've already damaged the front splitter :-) Don't worry - you'll get through lots more of them before the year's over.

Engine and brakes are awesome, but was only being very gentle. Wing will go on when the SVA has been done - hopefully April 15. Front splitter is fine - has just been taped up to prevent damage! Was very skittish at Bruntingthorpe due to strong cross winds, bad surface and ridiculously high ride height (again, for SVA).

Going to be a very painful wait!

Andrew, I was at Radical yesterday dropping my car off for some work to be done to it. I asked to see your car and they told me that it was at a shakedown day, so I knew that you would be at Brunyy having fun. Your car looks wonderful. When do you finally pick it up?

You haven't updated your profile, unless your Caterham has morphed into a Radical :-). What work were you having doing to it?

You're right. Swapped my R500 for a 1300cc SR3 two weeks ago. Updated my profile now.

Radical are fitting a cockpit cover (I have a new Series A SR3 special on order), a brake bias adjuster, gear drive oil cooler, engine out to check gearbox (I think at least one selector may be damaged) and compressions etc., general check over and to make sure that the set-up is per factory settings. Maybe I should have bought new after all!

Trouble is they will have it for about 3 weeks because of Rockingham and Spa. Roll on May

Hi Andrew

Picking it up tomorrow

Bruntingthorpe was fun but we didn't get much time in the cars ourselves ... am itching to get out in it.

I'm going via Brian James in Daventry to get the very same A series SR3 spec trailer.

Your updates to the car sound eminently sensible (especially as I've got these too )

When are you next out on track?

Word of advice on trailers.
I too bought a BJ open trailer. Within 4 months it was back having a hard top fitted. Cars get trashed on open trailers. Its not just the muck, grit and grime from the tow car, but the stone chips are a nightmare.

The good thing about Brian James is that (depending on trailer) be able to fit the hard top for no more than the total would have been if you bought the trailer as a hard top in the first place, if that makes sense. IE. Take the total cost of covered trailer and minus the cost you have already spent on the open top.

Anyway, have fun in your Radicals.
Im single seatering this year in Mono, BARC SE Single Seater and perhaps some of the formula honda races.

Would an extra plate on the front of trailer protect from stones being thrown up by the tow car? Or extra silly mud flaps fitted?

Hmm, I'll watch out for it but didn't think the stone chips from trailering my SLR were material when compared to the stone chips from driving the car on the circuit itself. In fact, didn't notice much chipping at all...

Andrew, next trackday isn't for a while as Radical have the car until around 24th and then I'm skiing until 29th. I am likely to do Easytrack Silverstone GP and/or Brands GP. I am also thinking about Bedford on 19th May with RMA. Bedford would be a great place for the SR3 and safe to explore the edges of its handling. What do you have booked? Are you still going on the Dijon/Magny Cours tour in August?

I agree with you on the trailer side. I didn't ever have any real problems trailering the 7 around. Maybe it has something to do with having a solid floor. What I do know is that operating a covered trailer is a pain in the *rse because of the difficulty of getting to anything to tie down etc.

Good luck with picking you car up. I look forward to meeting you sometime soon.

Hi Andrew

Yup, still booked on the Dijon Prenois/Magny Cours trip, and also 2 days at Spa in September!

And Anglesey, Snetterton, Cadwell, Hethel, Curborough.

Why don't you stick them all in your PH calendar? I can't keep up!

But definitely Cadwell on 7th July?

Picked up my Brian James SR3 special trailer today. Have to say it is the dogs whatsits. Well thought out and should be much easier to load than the standard 6'1" version. Can't wait to get my car back from Radical and get back on the track. I will have gone over a month without my fix
