Hi, new here.

I do a number of trackdays with my dad in his 2.0 westfield SE. Mainly elvington and croft, but cadwell and mallory hear and there, enjoy it a lot. Thing is, I want to go onwards and upwards (foolish youth) and he wants to keep it all simple (Wise old head).

Well after stumbling across a couple of clubsport 1100 adverts with cars going for around 10K, one of them including a trailer! I instantly thought thats the boy for me.

Thing is, I dont really know enough about them, I've had a wee search around the forum and on radicals site and found a wealth of information.

The way I see it, for a trackday car, aslong as I'm not bouncing it off the rev limiter all the time and generally short shifting hear and there, engine wise it should be reliable.

But what maintenance is involved, I am unfamilier with bike engines for a start. But what about brakes, tyre's, suspension etc etc. Being a race car, does it practically need a rebuild every year, or after each event eek

Any information would be much appreciated. I'm not in a buying position yet but hopefully "soon".

Hi
Depends on who you talk to re the engine some people never have them rebuilt others ever 30 hours but if your not using all the revs should be even longer.
Maintenance i have raced my clubsport for 3 seasons and nothing has broken fallen off or let me down, apart from the motor, brakes will last a season of racing the tyres i used last season did 10 races and had about the same again left in them.
All in all a great little car, selling mine as have now gone for a prosport just hope it proves to be as reliable.
Hope this helps.

i went through this dilemna back in july.

i bit the bullet and went for a £10kish clubsport and have done about 6 trackdays and a testday at silverstone. The only issue i have had was a flat battery. i had trimmed some revs of the limiter for trackdays and have the car set up on £50 a set michelins (ex fbmw)

i do the nessesary planned maintenance, keep an eye on the oil and have changed oil, filters and bits as suggested. i also spend quite a bit of time cleaning it and spanner checking (which is part of the fun for me anyway)

i have also a spare engine for a £1000 so if the one in it lets go big time its not the end of the world.

great car and i am sure you have seen them whizzing past on the trackdays you have attended.
