Just got my Brian James RS3 race shuttle
Discussion
Finally got my Z4 back in to the garage. Just so that you know, I brought a Radical SR3 Race car in late September. Because it’s an open top car it had to live in the garage for security reasons and to basically stop it from filling with water.
This caused me two major headaches!
1. The garage is directly attached to the home. So the smell of the oil and petrol is leeching in to the hallway and Carrie (Trackdaywidow) is moaning like nobody’s business.
2. My Z4 had to go outside in the rain and the cold. Ever since I got my Zed it has constantly lived in the garage, if I am away that is a different story, but every night she would be parked up snug in my garage. Of late she has then been covered with a beautiful quality BMW stretch interior cover to stop her getting dusty.
Now I have dealt with the 2 major drawbacks. On Friday I went and collected the long awaited for Brian James RS3 race shuttle pictured below.
The drive way extension is new, and before this was down the previous trailer (sold on Ebay) was making my home look like Steptoe and Sons rag and bone yard and I hated this!
The insurance company which the Radical and trailer is insured with have insisted on the Ground anchor, the sold secure lock and chain, the box lock on the tow hitch and the wheel clamp.
Now I can keep the Radical on the trailer with its spare tyres, tools, oils, petrol cans and the other paraphernalia needed to run the car.
My baby’s back in bed now TFFT.

Hi Dario,
The shuttle looks the business, its good to have all you need safe and secure. Is there any reason you went for the hydraulic raising cover as opposed to rear door version? A word of caution, my friend has a similar shuttle and it can be quite hairy using it on a windy day
Still, looks great.

Hi there, I analyzed the use of the trailer and looked at the width of the Radical and the benefits of say going for an RS5 or the other one they do. The RS5 is way too big for my needs as you need a big vehicle to tow it. This tows behind my Merc E class with no real problem. Didn’t really want to buy a tow barge as well.
This way I can fasten down the car with no issues at all, less doors and over all it meets my needs.
I am thinking of putting a 2nd deck over the car. In that way I can have more than ample storage for awning, and all other manner of paraphernalia that I might like to take. With the raising top I can still grab hold of the wheel to adjust the steering wheel as its being winched in ( with an enclosed version you would either have to sit in the car on wait until you could reach the wheel through a door. If you sit in the car and you are loading by your self you cant see what you are about to knock off)
In all I just thought it was a more equitable solution to all my needs especially if I put in the second deck above the car. That said the bit about the wind is a concern, but we will see what happens on those occasions. Possibly just raise it a bit and make sure it’s parked in the correct direction. Besides it was 4K less expensive than the RS5 which is huge. It is fitted with interlock struts that can be used to prevent the canopy from lowering under its own propulsion.

One word of caution, install razor wire, guard dogs, a machine gun nest, and a tracker. The pikeys love these trailers, and you don't want your car gone too.
Best

i know what you mean, but short of electrifiying it i dont know what else to do other than to take the wheels off. i have done what my insurance company wants of me. might put up a pair of drop in to the ground posts either side of the A frame.
