Hi,

Just thought I'd introduce myself around here, as I think I'm likely to have a lot of questions!

I've just bought a 1100 Clubsport which we intend to double drive in sprints and hillclimbs.

One question I've got to start with is what is the effect of increasing the rideheight?

Ideally I'd like to raise it a bit as some hillclimbs and sprints aren't what you'd call mirror smooth!

Also, has anyone solved loading them singlehanded on a trailer, if so what trailer and how do you do it!?

Cheers

Simon

I don't know the answer to your ride height question, but I am sure someone on here will help. We trailer our 1100 clubsport on a Brian James Minno trailer. We don't have a winch but I can push it on by myself no problem. The only thing you will struggle to do on your own is removing and replacing the bodywork. IMHO its a two man job!! Our car just fits the trailer, we put it on backwards and secure it with one ratchet strap round the chassis at the back and two ratchet straps at the front from the trailer to the top suspension arms. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Hi Silv,
Thanks for the reply. We've got a minno at the moment although are thinking of changing it as the wing doesn't fit under the tyre rack.
We're hoping to solve the bodywork dilemma somehow, either by getting it onto a trailer without removing the front or by adding something like a temporary brace so that you can lift it on and off by yourself.
Cheers

I don't think you'll find it possible to get a standard ride height Rad down any trailer ramps. My BJ trailer has extra long ramps and it still can't get down without taking the front off - regardless of which way down you try and take it. The overhangs on the front are simply too long and too low. I have found it reasonably OK to get the bodywork off on my own, however, but loading the thing on and off in general needs assistance in some form or another.

Don't know anything about what the ride height will do, but I'd expect a very slight loss of downforce.

Thanks, yeah that's what we are 'hoping' to solve. Sounds like it may be a problem though.

On a different subject, does anyone insure them for fire and theft and if so who do you use?

Got mine covered with CCI, they cover it in the garage, in transit and at the track. They also cover the trailer in the same policy as well as tools.

I have a clubsport that I use for trackdays. I upped my BJ minno to a Clubman as I found the minno just too tight. I go on frontwards - rearwards gets too much noseweight (esp with tyres and jerry cans on the front of the trailer). I have no prob with the ramps and height. Although I load with the trailer not hitched, high on the jockey wheel and I dont put the erm stay, support things down. The trailer doesnt do anything bad like this, but as you load the back goes down a bit more and then comes up as the weight goes forward. works very well.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Rob, insurance sounds good.

Graham, are you able to load it without taking the nose off on the clubman or are you still removing the nose?

Cheers

my nose stays firmly in place! the splitter might just touch the ramps, but it's fine.

However, I have had a minno and (sold for) an A series (which got nicked). on both I had to put some BJ decking material on the ground in front of the ramps IYSWIM to get the front of the car high enough for the ramps.

So there must be a difference in the clubman, but dont know what. The clubman works very well indeed it is a 1200/185. It is big enough to make loading and tying down a dream, but is nowhere near as heavy to move about as the A series.
