Anyone else out there thinking about one, waiting for one, or got one?

I've just ordered a 1500, hopefully arriving mid April in time for Folembray. Another couple of weeks to decide the colour after Andrew stole red!

The same! You're not after the Cerbera are you?

I remember you saying you wanted to sell the M3 and get some interesting track car?

Ah - the Noble, I remember you saying now. Cerbera is a similar car to the Noble I guess; but I've changed my mind and think it's too heavy and has expensive running costs for track use. Yep, I'm trying to sell the Cerbie at the moment, since it's a bit over the top for driving on our busy roads.

Love Donnington though - have lots of video overtaking Noble's

He who prevaricates...

Yours is arriving a week after mine isn't it? I'm sure that's what Ben just told me.

To be fair though, due to the long running-in periods, I think most of the Nobles on track last year were trying to keep their revs down. Fortunately, Noble have since seen sense and reduced the recommended period from 2,500 miles to 1,000.

Funny that as i have a good avi of a Noble demolishing a cerb at Brands I guess it's all down to the driver

Nildram - quite possibly, though you can hear lots of turbo whoosh as you got past.

Anyway, neither will get a look in with a radical hopefully!

A Radical may be a lot faster on track, but you can't drive it to the track, and it's a lot more expensive to run once there. I race a Radical Clubsport and this year went along to a track day where I sat as a passenger in a Noble and a Radical SR3. I bought a Noble. Reason is that it was quick and it entertained me. The SR3 frightened me (as a passenger), and would probably do the same to my guests if I had one for track days.

True, but I for one bought my Radical for precisely that reason: it is a track car, it doesn't make the compromises a quick road car does, and I like it! But power to your elbow, when I was into road cars the Noble made me think twice.

Now that you race a Radical as well, what do you prefer driving on track? The major expense with a road car is tyres & brakes, what is it with the radical? I'm hoping the tyres at least will last a good few days!

Haven't driven the Noble on track yet, so we'll have to see. On a rainy day, I'd prefer the Noble though :-) Major expense for the Radical is tyres (get through one set per race meeting) and damage repair :-)

Is that a set of slicks? Are they completely worn out by the end of the day, or just not competitive? Anyway - a set of Radical tyres is still cheaper than a set of Cerbera/Noble tyres!

What are the main sorts of crash damage - body work repair?

cheers!

Radical slicks are a much softer compound than road tyres, so don't last as long, plus your cornering forces are greater. On an SR3 they're likely to cost more as well. As for damage, splitters are easily and regularly broken.

Right, but a radical is also much lighter than a road car. Are the slicks down to the canvas after a single race? Or has the performance just dropped off?

No, but a day's testing (or trackday) will trash them. Not down to the canvas, but things start getting understeery, which isn't any fun.

Having said that, it all depends how hard you are pushing. One guy spent half a season on one set of tyres, but then he never really pushed it hard enough to wreck them. Other drivers seemed convinced they were shot after 3 laps!
