Hi
I have a problem with the gearing on my clubsport hoping someone might be able to help. The problem is dosen't seem to matter what rear sprocket i use i run out of revs at the end of a straight, take silverstone national last time there i had a 16 tooth front sprocket and a 48 rear on the limiter on both straights, radical recommend for silverstone a 15 front and either 47 or 48 rear. I am running with spa gearing any ideas??

Silly question, but I guess you are getting into 6th?

Have you checked your ECU, it may be set low on the limiter? I don't know the clubsport but on my SR4 we have played around with this to eek out a few more revs where needed if the sproket doesn't do the trick.

I'd check with Radical what setting should be used first before you crank it up and blow the motor!

Rob
I try for seventh gear sometimes!!!!
Did you get your gear shift thingy to work?
I am pulling 11500 revs should only really use 10500 or thats what ted at powertec told me what does everyone use.

JP

The gear thingy is fitted but I can't configure it until I get out on track, next meeting is Easter Monday so will be able to report back then. The one I've fitted is made by Acumen - www.acumen-electronics.co.uk/home/index.php

According to the manual the Kawaka rev's to 11500rpm, I've got a proper rev counter on mine now and can confirm that my limiter is 11500rpm, afaik its a standard ignition unit.

RobC good luck with the Gear indicator, we had that unit on our Clubsport, never got it to work correctly!! even added more magnets to the front wheel sensor it a effort to get "quicker" readings, takes an age to set up and vfrustrating, we could register 1st to 5th but never 6th!! Hope you have better luck.

Jean Paul your problem seems strange, how are you measuring the revs, from the Radical dash? No way you should be running out of revs on the longest gearing (Spa) at what I assume is the Silverstone National.

Pretty sure I took the RPM from the dash when we first fitted it, then had a go at getting a clear reading from the coils.

No problem now as the Busa engine in the Prosport we have has built in facilities for a gear indicator!

Ah, that might be where the problem was as the tacho signal isn't very good, the tacho cable in the dash is actually connected direct to the coil so you would have got the same result as if you connected it direct to the coil. When through all this when I fitted the tacho I'm taking the feed from the ecu now so hopefully that'll work *fingers crossed*

JP - sounds very odd..maybe you've got 200bhp Kawaka engine
