Radical SR3 Simulator - which one is most realistic?
Discussion
Hi all
Am looking for guidance from actual Radical SR3 owners/drivers in regards to the most realistic simulator for the SR3?
From what I have been researching so I believe it is down to:
- rFactor2
- Assetto Corsa
FYI I have an iRacing SIM setup, however iRacing has the SR8 only, while this is great for the SR8 it isn't realistic in regards to the SR3...
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas are appreciated!
Thanks
Jon

I generally use AC, but have been using the SR8. There is an SR3 available but not sure how good it is. (Both of these are individual creations).
PCars2 has an SR3 RS which I've used and whilst i prefer the physics of AC i have been playing around the PCars2 recently.
iRacing has an SR3 is will be very good no doubt, however I don't play it due to the costs. Can't comment on rFactor.

I've been using rFactor2 on my home sim. I did a comparison lap with Bradley's real world lap side by side.

I did another one Bert comparing my sim Silverstone Lap with Bradley's and its near on identical, even the steering angle, gear shift points etc.

Interesting, just noted the most recent content on your vid about the steering. That's exactly what I found. Too much steering needed and also need to tighten the steering up, up to and sometimes past the apex.
A weird facet of sims.

I've tried a few (although not rFactor) and find the same. While the ultimate capabilites of the car are relatively well modelled, the steering feel is always wrong regardless of what settings are at play. Currently a fan of Pcars2 because I find in VR its has a better sense of immersion, but emulating the steering feel on a SR3 is difficult.A weird facet of sims.

I have a strong interest in this as I want to get going with a VR sim at home (at the moment to help in my single seater exploits, so off topic a bit re:Radicals). I don't get on very well with screen based sims (driven Bradley's SR3 sim at a couple of pro places). It kind of helped to learn the lines at Silverstone GP, but I couldn't get close at all to a lap time. Now I've tried VR a couple of times, I really like it, don't get sick and feel really at home.
Off to try Bradder's setup with his new sim company in the new year.

Looks pretty good and obvs don't have the data, but you can def see the slight need to tighten a wheel a bit around the apex on a couple of corners that the real car doesn't do. I'm just being picky though - need to get a real go!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxT_NXitojE

VR absolutely changes the realism and car racing is the perfect fit for VR (in that you don't physically need to move). Braking points are far easier to pick out (3D absolutely makes the difference here) and you get a true feeling of an undulating circuit (coming down the back section of Mount Panorama in VR is just superb). On the whole while you'll never get a perfect representation of handling of a particular car, it is excellent for learning/improving lines, learning racecraft and simply keeping a high number of seat hours when you aren't in the real car. Online racing is huge fun also and can be almost as much fun as the real thing (without the financial risks associated).

Hi there
Just came across this old thread... Some awesome work here, I ended up settling on rFactor2. For what it is worth I use the SIM to learn the track, not a great deal of what I do in the SIM makes much of a difference on track. I've tested new lines in the SIM, tried them on track and no joy for me. I'm in a SR3 RS and have tried and tested in the SIM and following real tracks:
- Winton
- The Bend - GT
- The Bend - International
- Phillip Island
Also oddly, I do better typically in the car than I do in the SIM...
Cheers
