Looking at running a Sr3rs for trackdays only and have a few questions :-

Do the gear ratios need changing for every circuit or is there a ratio that can be used
for the majority of circuits.

What spares are essential ? I noticed radical sell a spares kit , is this worth buying.?

What are the most obvious things that should be spanner checked (work loose).?

Are there any manuals for baseline settings for shocks and aero for each track?

Do the 24 v batteries need to be on a trickle charger or will they charge from the alternator?

Thanks Guys and Girls.

For track daying I doubt you'd need to change the final drive really. I'm not aware of any resources on specific aero or shock recommendations that's documented. You might get advice if you get friendly with done of the race teams. But really for track daying you're not going to be bothered about ultimate lap times. Id think the fun would be in experimenting to get the understeer/oversteer balance to your liking.

For spanner checking, just do each corner.

I hope you have fun, but for me radicals and track days aren't really very compatible. I'd suggest getting a race licence and doing test days.

You'll tire of track days but will be fun at first no doubt thumbup

I check wishnones, brake calipers, steering components, engine mounts, wheel nuts, wing fixings and visual the other stuff.

Thank you Bert and Dunc for the replies. Good to know that I will not have to
worry about changing the gear ratios , that is one less thing to worry about.

I realise a SR3 may not be to everyone’s taste for trackdays , but there are quite
a few people runnng them with no problem and I have been in a couple before on
track and found no problem running with other slower cars .

Looking forward to it !

I used my SR3 RS for trackdays and enjoy every minute of it. You will find that you make a lot of new friends every time you are at the track because everyone wants to know about the car.

Regarding the 24v system in these cars... there are two 12v batteries in the car. One gets charged by the engine alternator, and the second one gets charged by an onboard battery charger.

Regarding spares, these cars are really solid and other than extra fluids not much is needed. One part that is good to have is an extra starter, because if you spin and don’t get the clutch to the floor fast enough the starter engages and self destructs.

Regarding set up...Radical has three very good manuals that are very helpful. The Owners handbook, the Mechanics handbook and the Handling guide.

I hope this helps,
Charley

If the starter self destruct should happen I'd recommend not just fitting a new starter and carrying on. It leaves a lot of debris behind that should be cleared out first.

What needs to be done before the starter can be replaced? Luckily I have never bust one.
