isn't the PR6 reverse mechanism integral to the diff?

Yeah it usually is Bert, just a lever/cable into the diff.

I am looking for the clubsport/Prosport reversing mechanism. A simple electric motor

A simple electric motor that never worked on the club/prosport, used to make a lot of noise and maybe go back a few inches before the ball bearings would fall out, think one of RLM cars has a motor fitted but a much better system.

Yep, best abandon any thoughts about the ball bearing thingy.

buy a diff with the reverse. They do work from experience ,but you can easily damage the unit if you get it wrong.

Gc285, I only need a reverse to comply with regs, it doesn't really have to work 🤓🤓😜😜

Would you be able to expand on this? I recently purchased one with a reverse diff and found it a nightmare to get in and out first time, I was sat outside my garage getting wet with the car in a silly position trying to get it back into forward! Haven't tried it since...

It complies with the regs.
I used it once when I went into the foam cushions at Cadwell, It got me out ,reversed back and managed to get back on. never tried it since. I had to dip the clutch a couple of times to get it in gently into reverse.
I probably would not use again unless desperate. I know a few that have damaged the diff doing it. I also found that if not fully engaged in forward the sprocket can jiggle about a little. Seems to hold it in place.

I've never had any problems with mine and use it quite a bit.

The reversing diff seems to engage most easily if you just have a little bit of forward movement going on. I assume it can baulk otherwise.

Mind you it would be a big expense to change the diff just to get a reverse mechanism!
