I'm just staggering to the end of the installation of the 1440 Hayabusa in my old Clubsport and just wondered if most Radicals with a tweaked Busa need to use 24v to start?

I have been messing around with the crank sensor to try to improve it (and I have) but it just won't spin fast enough without 24v to get the ECU to lock onto the crank signal.

Compression ratio isn't overly high at 13.3:1

I used to run 24v start with my 1224cc Kawasaki so used to the set up but just wanted to save some weight.

Or is there a better crank sensor available for the Busa (I'm using Gen2 24-1 pattern)?

Thanks

Martin

24V starting is the only real way forward for you. It's what everyone uses.

Get a lithium battery, don't worry about onboard charging and just charge it between events.

Realativly cheap and an easy install. Guaranteed startingevery time with no worries.

Might not have been the reply you wanted but it is the easiest option.

No other crank sensors etc that we know of,

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something daft and that someone had found a better sensor.
I even offered up a ZZR sensor as that worked fine with my ecu (with a much smaller diameter 36-1 trigger wheel with much smaller teeth than the Busa ones) so the only difference with the whole injection system to when I had the ZZR engine in was the crank sensor (I ran coil on plug on the ZZR too so same ones have gone into the Busa).

Thanks
