I've got an early SR3 ,(chassis number 260), which is fitted with the Farringdon steering wheel dash which no longer works! Farringdon have stopped making these dashes and an electronics guy I know has had a look at the wheel and found two blown capacitors in it which he has changed however the dash is still not powering up so I suspect it is the Farringdon box in the loom which is causing the problem. I'm guessing the best solution is to fit a new Radical dash, has anybody updated to one of these dash systems and know what is likely to be involved apart from a significant lightening of the wallet! I suspect there will need to be some loom changes but which ones are needed?

If it's the Farringdon made for Radical it actually has the correct connector to plug straight into the radical loom. So plug and play from that point of view, some of the senders may need replaced however. My oil pressure (iirc) read in reverse when I fitted a Farringdon wheel/logger.

Also try removing the SD memory card from the Farringdon box as this fixed mine when it went on the blink recently.

Hope this helps,

Dunc.

Have you tried talking to Farringdon, although they have stopped making, they were doing special order, maybe that has stopped.

We have the same system, and despite getting all the data working, we cant quite get the steering wheel to work reliably. It powers on, but then appears to do odd things. We've tried all the standard stuff, and think it might be shorts on the buttons.

To replace the system, you first need to choose someone to go with. We are picking RaceTech, but it might be simpler to take AIM as I think they did the later radical dashes (is that right). Then you need to take the feeds that the farringdon does and put them into the new logger and dash unit. If you give RaceTEch a call, they will take you through what needs to be done and offer a package. There is a fair amount of configuration, but its not too hard.

Out of interest if you fit a new system, and have a dead wheel, I'd be keen to see if we can salvage the buttons from yours....please let us know.
