Realistic HP figures
Discussion
Hi all,
Just wondering, what sort of HP figures would you expect to get from a 1400cc engine? I know it depends on many variables, such as head work (which I have), cam shafts ( I have Extreme engines billet cams) compression , etc. Mine did 197 WHP. Lately I am seeing people quote 220 whp for 1400. Is this right?

I ran a 1400cc engine built by powertec (radicals engine builder) a few years back and I think we were quoted about 220-225 rwp, so yes I would say that was about right. I remember it being a very torquey power plant.
Sold it on to a guy who done hill climbing who was very impressed with it....

Powertec's figures are bull****, they would be engine jp not at the wheels, my car is quoted at 205hp by radical and in a dyno it made 142, I had it tuned as u got an unlocked computer and it made 156 ( the radical tunes are all over the place)
I am aiming for 190atw with a 1400 head work and cam

My powertec 1400 came in at 217hp on the Northampton Motorsport rollers. That figure is flywheel hp, so is corrected based on a coastdown. I dont think I was given the at the wheels numbers.
The car is for sale at the moment so the dyno graph is up. You'll find it on racecarsdirect. Just search for an SR3 and you should be able to find it; not many 1400s listed with a dyno chart.
