I purchased a set of Dunlop slicks at the beginning of the year for track days and have found them a bit too extreme. I wish to try some of the SR1 challenge controlled tyres. Is there anyone out there who would like to swap a set of part-worn slicks for a set of part-worn controlled tyres???

I have quite a few SR1 fronts but they don't seem to wear much. The rears don't last so long and tend to get used for testing once they have done their time racing. Are SR4 wheels same size?

The wheels are the same size. The two cars are virtually identical. Have you dry sumped your car? because I was thinking of doing mine over the winter, as I have had a few issues with oil weeping out of all the seals, gearbox sprocket, starter-motor, clutch, slave cylinder, push-rod etc.

Yes, I had it done by factory before I brought it in anticipation of using slicks, although I have noticed that lap times on slicks don't seem to be that much quicker than on the treaded. A couple of seconds.

Sr4 has centre locks doesn't it... and a diffuser/under engine cover. What engine are you running. It would be interesting to know the difference between the cars.

Sr4 doesn't specifically have centre locks - they may have been an option. Ours was 4-bolt.

I can feel a track day coming on! Mine is a 2004 Hyabusa powered car, the SR4 undertray would fit your SR1 but I've stopped using it to try to reduce the rear grip. When are you out on track again? I was going to squeeze a Silverstone GP in before the weather gets too cold.

Not sure when we are out next. I want to get some winter testing in. Possibly Donnington, Cadwell, Silverstone gp or Brands GP. I could do with a rain test, although dry is always good, I need to get some sort of wet and damp setup as we were hit with rain twice this year and I was pitifully slow.
I was thinking of doing a family trackday as well. My wife has not been in it yet and I want my son to have a go just to shut him up. He thinks his first name is Lewis and that dad is slow!
pm me when you get near booking.

By the way, rather than remove Diffuser, couldn't you have hardened the rear up or reduced the wing on the back or soften the front to balance it out a bit.??

LOL Lewis.....
At least you participated in the wet. It poured at Snet at beginning of the year, I did 2 laps, watched 3 people crash, packed up and went home for Sunday lunch!
I will let you know when next out.

I really learned to love driving in the wet. The problem is that you need very good condition wets for it to be fun. Otherwise it's not fun!
