Performance friction pf01 pads
Discussion
To my direct knowledge Wilwood Dynalite Lug Mount calipers were fitted to early Clubsports and Prosports, and I believe at least some SR3s. At the time there was a limited choice of pads and most came from Hawke or Wilwood themselves.
I found that, despite the US orientated blurb extolling their virtues, they were not the best performers. Under extreme braking (which is everyday in sprints and hillclimbs) the calipers flexed giving the confidence inspiring feel that the harder one pushed the brake pedal the more the car's rate of retardation reduced. The fact that the original models now seem to be out of production may tend to support my view.
I'm guessing that the Big R found the same thing for they replaced them with a Hi-Spec type of caliper which was nicely rigid and with PF01 pads gave a nice hard pedal and progressive response ie the harder one pushed the pedal the greater the rate of retardation.
Nice piece of history L, you say, but what have I got on my car? As there was a lot of after sales replacement the year of the car is not definitive. But there's a big clue on the calipers - the Dynalites say Wilwood on the side while the Hi-spec type say Radical if they came from the factory and Hi-Spec if they were an independently sourced aftermarket fitment.
And yes, PF01 is great material. I've used it for many years on lightweight competition cars and last year fitted it to my 1250kg 3.7 hillclimb Cayman where it performs as well as it does in a 350kg Force.
