had the new rear wheel bearing pressed into the hub/upright this week and was told by the mechanic the fiat bearing required torquing upto 176 lb/ft. reading the posts last night by radical technical.it appears this is not the case! anyone shed some light on this,as im out in the car friday and i only torqued it to 175 lb/ft ish! cheers

maybe the bearing torque needs to be different for different expected loads?
I have no idea, but that might be the case.
Are the front and rear bearings the same?

They're the same: Premier Wheel bearing Part number BRT1004
They're the same: Premier Wheel bearing Part number BRT1004

But I do wonder why people don't put the effort in to read threads on which they post - the answer to the original Q re wheel bearing nut torques is in the response by TechRad to the Centrelock Tightening thread

Are we seeing the fruits of years of Blair/Brown, state sponsored indolence?

So are you talking about the centre lock wheel nut (if you have centre lock wheels or the nut that holds the bearing/drive flange in place?

hi martin I was refering to the nut which torques up the rear wheel bearing. not the 70mm centre lock wheel nut. someone else posted regarding the wheel nuts and as usual no specific answers were given.

Mr Radical's answers looked quite specific and even definitive to me!

it was graham.but my radical owners manual says wheel nut torque to 200 lb/ft and the post by rad tech did not agree.most owners also were running 200 lb/ft.
with regards to wheel hub nut torques. 180-200 lb/ft seems the norm so will go with that
