Just thinking earlier that if there's a low fuel light (or am I making that up) on the SR3, does this not mean there is something in the tank monitoring the level to some extent? Wondering if can make use of this signal for a more understandable fuel gauge!

Don't like the idea of playing russian roulette with the tank.

hello, the sensor for the dash light is only an optical type sensor that only really shows when the fuel has gone below this level. there isn't anything inside that can be calibrated against for use with a fuel level gauge. hope this helps.

Ah nuts,

Well thanks for the response. I'm assuming that the only real solution (if I wanted a gauge) would be to fit something aftermarket in the tank?

When the light comes on, how much time/distance would you say is left to make it to a petrol station (on the road) or back to the pits?

In my experience, anything between 0 and 100 miles.
No I'm not joking.

I use an app on my iPhone that tells me how far I've driven and keep the thing topped up. No good for racing but it ( mostly) stops me running out on the road.

That light is a totally bloody useless thing, surely something like an SL must have something better than that?

I was thinking that about the SL...never been close to one though.

Shame about the sensor/light then, also a shame it appears to be a st of a job to rectify it (unless I'm missing something)
