Rusty pushrods?
Discussion
Playing around in the footwell of the PR6 today I found a lot of water in the rubber boots for the brake master cylinder pushrods. The pushrods have a lot of surface rust. Can the pushrods easily be removed from the master cylinder? Is it just a case of yanking the pushrod out or does the circlip on the master cylinder need to be removed first? Can this be done without removing the piston from the MC? Any tips to stop the water getting in?

The push rods are held in with spring clips.
If water has got into the boots, the biggest problem is likely to be that the steel plunger within the body of the master cylinder will have rusted and seized to the aluminium body of the cylinder.
Best to take the master cylinders off the car and dismantle them and check for corrosion and if not too bad fit a new seal kit.
The rubber shroud round the push rod sometimes has a drain hole (which should be fitted at the bottom).
Also use red rubber grease on the push rod and boot.
