I have a couple of these which are now louder than the re-packed race boxes.

Can they be made re-packable and is it cost effective in comparison with £360 for a new one?

I have a "tea pot" silencer that could go cheap.

Yes, I tried it. I had to rivet back together though as I had no stainless welding capability. As a result it wasn't airtight enough but it proved that something is possible. If I remember correctly the construction of the box and pipe wasn't immediately obvious but the pics I took should help understand where best to cut it open.

The fabricator who does all the work for our race team can modify the boxes so they are repackable, he can cut out the panel and then fit inserts so the panel can be removed and refitted using small bolts. He's located in Towcester, near Silverstone circuit, phone 01327350349 and ask for Nigel.

As a mater of interest, what would you expect the static test result to be for a 1500 SR3RS with a quiet silencer, and with a race silencer?

Not really sure. We would normally bung the quiet one on if we fail noise testing in testing. Then repack the race one. So that would get below 105 easily. 102 maybe?

Thanks Bert
It says 98 on the build sheet, but I just wondered what the real world readings might be. 102 sounds more realistic although I'll be happy if it is below 100 so I can get on Castle Combe for track days.

Experience is that you'll need an extra exhaust dongle for a CC track day. That will take a couple of Db off to get you under the 100.

I have one of the extra quiet sr3 silencers for sale...decided to get some made to my specification instead so surplus to requirements. Are you saying with the race box its 102db??

Nope, with the quiet box it's 102 (YMMV). It's hard to get on at CC. So it's the quiet box plus dongle.

I can get on to CC without an add on piece but my SR3 is only a 1300.
