Hi all,

I'm soon to be a Radical owner, i pick up a 2010 PR6 from the factory on Thursday, any pointers regarding the PR6 would be much appreciated.

I've just moved from a track day prepared VX220 turbo so am really looking forward to how different the Radical will be.

First thing i could do with is a link to an owners book for the PR6, I've downloaded the mechanics manual off the radical site but it doesn't really mention the PR6 very much.

Any checks i should do before my first track booked at Oulton park on friday, then 3 already booked for the new year at oulton - croft and Donington.

The car is supposed to have had a full factory refresh, so should be fine.

What are the jacking/lifting points like to get at, is it all a body off exercise.

Good to hear - YHM - nope, no need to remove bodywork to jack - longest quicklift required for front end.

Cheers

I imagine Trevor's email to you will explain most things, great great little car, I have some tape on my jack so to know how far to push it under the car so it's lifting on the chassis rather than the front diffuser the sound of cracking fibreglass is never nice....

If the car is coming straight from the factory you would hope its a 100% ready to go.

Oulton park Friday sounds slippy and greasy to me expect loads of Understeer. Wets as good chance that's what you'll be running I run pressure wise around 21psi cold.

Hi thanks for the replies, Trevor emailed me earlier, going to give him a call tomorrow.

I not expecting much from Fridays track day, just want to shake the car down and get used to what does what.

The VX I had was a quick car but not in the same league as the radicals, I started with a Clio 172 cup a couple of years ago and moved to the VX earlier this year, had more than a few radicals pass me so decided it was the next affordable move to get out of the VX and in to a Radical, can't wait to get in to it.

It's not just the steering it for me though I love tinkering and working on my own cars.

From the factory is good, but it's not foolproof. It's a race car. Before taking to track you should do a proper spanner check and check that the fluids are staying in. Just sensible precautions.

pick her up today, its the first time I've seen a PR6 in the flesh up close, have to admit I'm not surprised they call them the devils child.

Cant wait to get round Oulton Park in it on friday, slowly slowly though LOL

A big thanks to the Jaime and the lads who prepped the car for collection just managed to avoid the rain on the way back home with the open trailer, need to save some pennies now for a brian james or wood ford covered one, also if any body knows who would be interested in my 9 month old 3ton gross indespension one please PM me.

Oulton Park today in the PR6, did i enjoy it NO was the car great YES, did i spin YES, slicks -2 temp on track, with the track full of ice the marshals were spreading road salt till 10am, gave her a run out did 3 sessions of about 5 laps each but just couldn't get enough heat in either the engine nor the tyres so used the old discretion is better than valour adage and put her back on the trailer in one piece and came home, i didn't want to ruin a new set of wets, the guy in the garage at the side of me in a sapphire cosworth ruined a set of wetsin 5 laps, they were shredded.

Have to say its a whole different animal to my VX220 I thought that had very direct steering and decent handling, the PR6 is in a whole different league, plus the exposed driving position took me by surprise, need to sort my mirrors out they are near to useless plus one was cracked on the way to the circuit so couldn't see nothing through it.

Only managed to stretch its legs on the hill up to druids then bottled it a druids, cold tyres cold brakes near side camber + speed wasn't going to end well so i backed off, lodge through to dear leap was fun as was the pit straight but the low sun and no grip in to old hall made my clicker valve twitch.

This car is going to be an addiction i can feel it, bring on the decent weather, but in the meantime I'm booked in for the 25th of Jan at Oulton park again, glutton for punishment hell yes LOL, Donington in february with book a track then if they will let me on track Croft with lotus on track on the 4th of april.

Fancy a sprint later in the summer any advice on licensing and decent events in the north west would be much appreciated, do you need ARDS for sprint events???

Sprinting very easy. Apply to MSA for a Nat-B non-race license, not test needed and <£40.

I'm not in the NW so only been to a couple of venues. Liverpool MC do a couple of sprints at Aintree - fast course (~1/2 the old Grand Prix circuit) and you get to see the course where the horsey's race up close (not too close, those jumps are big). A few sprints at Three-sisters and a couple of hillclimbs in the area. Further afield is sprints at Anglesey (nice), Blyton park, Harewood, ...

I doubt they were spreading salt, as most circuits won't put it down I know for a fact silverstone don't use it, sounds like it was a bit of a waisted day, good chance your next day in January will be just as bad -temperature and a open car are never much fun, you will need to blank most of the oil rad up to try and keep some oil temperature, nothing you can do about the tyres, you could use wets as a 6 is light and shouldn't chew them up that quickly. I've got a used set if of interest.

I think shagging a set of wets in cold weather is far more palatable than a bent car. Just out of interest is it a new 6 or a pre-loved one? I miss mine a bit

Its a pre loved one, i believe it belonged to the factory and was driven by one of the owners sons.

Not sure a out careful owner, I've looked all over the chassis and can't see much evidence of any major repair works after a shunt, all looks straight. It's had a full factory refresh so I've been told so all shoud be good.

Only time will tell smile
