my current avos are 15 years old now but performed well on my track day on friday! are the sr8 1 way intrax units a worthwhile upgrade if they can be had for the right money? cheers.
car in question is a 98 clubsport. radical part numbers are the same foer clubbie and sr8 dampers so i assume they fit ok?

It would be astonishing if dampers for a clubbie were the same as the sr8. They are not exactly similar weights even if the dimensions are the same.

Avo have a pretty good service service which I used when I had a clubbie.

thanks bert. i was looking on radical omline store and they are the exact same part number as the sr3 shocks but need different spring poundage. £358 + vat per corner without springs on line but ive found some much cheaper.if they are no better than the avos which are massively cheaper i will stick with what i have.thanks

You'd expect Intrax to be better than AVOs certainly. I presume you are looking at the Prosport/Clubsport section. The fronts look to be the same as the SR8, but the rears are different (presumably that boat anchor V8 makes a difference). Although the SR8 connection is a bit of a red herring.

In terms of better, I'd certainly start by getting the AVOs serviced. When I had them on my clubbie it went ok. Faster than some and occasionally slower than others!

The Konis I have on my Clubbie were from an SR3 and fitted OK, I think the rear rebound valving was slightly different to the same ones fitted to Prosports but well within adjustment.

I'm amazed you are contemplating different dampers after driving it once! Have you tried playing around with the springs and current dampers to see what you want it to do?

Get the Avos refurbed (50 quid a corner maybe) and an understanding of how the car is currently setup before doing anything else. Also get some seat time to get a feel for the car.

thanks guys. i have no real need to change the dampers as they seemed fine to me. but i saw a set of intrax at the right price and thought it may be a good upgrade for very liitle financial outlay.the car was good and i do need some seat time obviously. im at oulton park in november so that will be my next outing unless something interesting pops up!
