hi all, am wanting to do a few sprints next year (not overly competative)as a few guys i know are getting into it,but my clubsport is circuit orientated and set up for dunlop radials.
the car runs the 6" front 8" rear allycats and i have 3 x full sets and 18 tyres.
i would like to keep the car setup the same but seems dunlop tyre options are not available for my car.hc100s are softest but way too wide for my rim sizes so was thinking of setting it up for avon radials
i already have 1 set of rims on dunlop wets which i intend to keep but the other 2 sets i may want to fit avon radials. one set for circuit one set for sprinting!
if i do go down this route what setup adjustments are needed and does anyone know a supplier of used/part worn avons? cheers

I'm using standard Radical geometry and ride height on my Avon-shod SR3 sprint car, and all seems fine.

I should add, that's Avon radials, A15 compound.

thanks. i have an early clubsport which is set up for dunlop radials and am wanting to find a solutuion so i can use it on circuit or sprints. i will keep the wets i have and use for both if needed but want a decent set of sprint tyres and am struggling with the set up i have.
the only other option i can see is to move a pair of the 8" rears to the front. buy a pair of wider rears and use the dunlop hc100 radials in 190 front 230 rear? but not sure how the offset on the allycats would be if i moved the 8"wheels up front! cheers

I misread this originally, if you're changing from radials to radials then very little will have to change unless the sidewall profile is drastically different and then you'll need to adjust the ride height.

That's my simplisitc view of the matter, someone may come along with a more technical answer.

Also you'll struggle to get the rears on the front without modifying the bodywork in my experience.

hi dunc. thanks!
the tyres would be almost exactly the same as they are now. assuming the tolerencies are the same between manufacturers!
but i thought they required different set up? cheers

Ah OK if we're into the fine differences between different brands of radials in terms of setup then I'll not be much use! I'd go for a base radial setting for radical (or if you can get settings for the Avons then all the better) then adjust as required from there depending on car/driver/track.

Sorry I couldn't be much help, I did however try the alleycat 8's on the front of my clubbie without tyres and it wasn't even close to working if I recall correctly but feel free to try yourself - cars differ smile
