Just read something on Yahoo (comments thereto) that actually really tickled me; it was about great sporting rivalries so obviously the above was one of them ........ but some wag had added this comment as an alternative suggestion >

What about Henry Hopple and Gary Morrison in the North Yorkshire shove 'afpenny village Championships. One year Henners called him, i'm not sure if yahoo will censor this, 'n old codger! The following year he pushed in front of Gary at the bar causing a beer mat to fall on the floor and in reprisal Gary shagged his missus when he was in Doncaster buying some wax. It were gripping stuff I can tell 'ee.
