Hi all, my first post on the Radical sub-forum but I have been lurking for a few weeks.

Just bought this: http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/44946/radica...

I'll be competing in the British Sprint Championship.

My previous sprint experience is all in front-engined V8 kit cars, so I'm at the bottom of a steep learning curve. No specific questions as yet, but I'm hoping you guys will bear with me when I start asking!

First job is to remove the bodywork and have a proper look around...

Hi Kurt,

Should be quite a change from the Westfield, no point me turning up now to be not only the slowest SL but also the slowest Radical in the Championship.

I think I saw this car at Kirkistown and it it looked really good, going well. It will give Jim a real challenge in his Juno.

Hi Angus. It has been at Kirkistown for the last 2 years in the hands of Rory Stephens and I think it's honours even with Jim in the Juno. If I can get close to Rory's level of performance I'll be very happy!

Are you bringing yours out to play again in 2013?

I expect to be out at a few meetings but unlikely to do a full BSC season.

That'll be a serious piece of kit to take on Jim. Is Simon going to be out this year in the new car?

SportsLibre - you coming to Combe in March?

Anyone got any feeling son the intercooler location? Deffinately good for cold air but probably not so go for smooth air to the rear wing! wink

I think you'd need a wind tunnel to be certain, but the former owner tells me he trimmed the wing recently and saw a big improvement in time at one venue. So the wing must still be seeing some air.

Andy - the word is that Simon is still building his R8 monster, so he may not be out until later in the year.

Mr Cowper is making noises about a high-powered Juno, which is ominous for the rest of us if true...

Started to take the bodywork off today to inspect the car. A bit more of a jigsaw puzzle than a Westfield!

It's fitted with air jacks and an FIA bag tank, neither of which I'll need for sprinting.

Is there much of a second hand market for the above?

I spoke to him on Saturday and got the same story. I asked whether the 550bhp display engine for their new 1500 turbo was spare on Monday and if they needed me to store it and turn it over under load every so often. The answer wasn't "yes", so I'm still 999cc this year as the answer to "how much" was a number similar to the cost of my car plus my budget for running the car until 2022.

Hi Kurt, never realised you were on PH. Just spotted the flymo for sale and clicked on your profile.

Nice new toy. A Turbo BEC will be a change from a lumbering V8.

Hi Rich - great to hear from you. Yes - a big change. Aside from the ever lengthening list of jobs (and expense) on the SR3, I am looking forward to the challenge. Many hours in the garage before I get to drive it in anger though...

...how's the EVO? Any trackdays planned?

I'll pm you later for a chat rather than clog your thread.

On the radical though, any plans for a paddle shift? I destroyed the box on my westy missing a shift as I found a false neutral. If funds permit, they're worth considering. Following my rebuild I fitted one and they are great.

My research suggested the most effective was the geartronics closed loop system. Not cheap mind but then neither is a new gearbox.

Thanks Rich. Funds may permit next season - currently investing in exhaust manifold upgrades and turbo repairs!

Speak to you soon no doubt..
