Carbon Mirrors
Discussion
Hey all,
I'm 6'4 and am struggling to get a good view with my standard SR3 mirrors, so was thinking of upgrading to the carbon ones. Can anyone confirm their range of movement/vision is greater than standard? The internal adjustment looks to make for a better system overall as well.
Anyone have any they'd like to get rid of??
Thanks,
Dane

Is there space to move the whole mirror ( stem ) forward ? Even 1inch will make a major difference.
Another point ( for everybody ) is that on the passenger side the glass edge is very exposed when the mirror is at its full adjustment. I got round this by pivoting the base and redrilling two holes to re enclose the mirror glass.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

There is indeed mate, and this was going to be my back up option as I think it would solve the vision issue. Having said that my current mirrors are a bit worse for wear, and the adjustment is not the greatest within the ball joint (pain in the arse to adjust on race day) so I'm not adverse to picking up some fresher versions especially if it will allow me to avoid body mods.
Thanks mate

DD is right, with the Le Mans mirrors, on the passenger side the glass edge is very (surprisingly) exposed when the mirror is at its full adjustment relative to the driver's line of vision. No such problem with them on a PR6 and tbh, they are much less inclined to keep moving/needing correction than with the standard mirrors
Having enjoyed Hamlet's excellent company at the 750 Awards, perhaps I'm in Team Tightarse mode .......... couldn't you make/get made up a taller arm to improve visibility at minimised cost?

I might be wrong on this but the le mans mirrors use the same mounting points as the others. Therefore I believe that the le mans mirrors in themselves may not solve the problem. I understand that you would like newer mirors but it may well still involve re locating them further forward than standard...
Glass edge.............interestingly the problem for me was revealed on the PR6, where as on the Sr3 the glass edge exposed is much less so...

I think you'll end up being spot on David (though I hope you're not ). If we need to move the mounting points we will, but the added integrity of the newer mirrors is dstill enough to warrant my purchasing of them. Having a mirror fold in during your first lap of a test session is no fun!
