Has anyone ever run an SR4 without a rear nic-link connected, both dry and wet conditions? How effective is it on the SR4? Thanks

I experimented with removing the rear anti-roll bar off the clubsport years ago, and have never put it back on.

I tried my Clubsport in the wet without the front Nik link and without the rear anti-roll bar, it was terrible and haven't disconnected them or taken them off since!

Can't tell you about an SR4, but it's interesting in an SR3. Got into the 1.51s today at Snett without the rear nikky!

Well done that man and very impressive from someone who less than a year ago said "I think that 1:56 will be a very respectable time!", describing another's suggestion (not me) of around 1.52s as "Ambitious".

Must have been the weight saving smile

I used to disconnect the rear anti roll bar on the Clubsport in the wet and found things much more forgiving as would, perhaps, be expected.

Me too (though substitute Prosport for Clubsport)!

By my counting that makes it SIX agreements this year (so far).

Come on Angus, get off the fence, let's make babies! yikes

Tks Trev. I was a bit rubbish in the races - even Tim P managed to get by me in race 2 biggrin

Pleased with the qualifying and my fastest lap though.

I wonder if spring and damper rates are a large contributing factor to the mixed reviews of ARB removal? Also have the people who champion removing the rear one tired removing the front as well?

If you take the front off, you tend to cock a rear wheel!

Not sure that it's that simple.

When it comes to springs, I'm like them as hard as diamond and Angus likes them as soft as s......................

But we both ran for years without a rear ARB!

Just trying to get an understanding for it, saying that it was removed and didn't get put back on can mean there was no noticable difference once removed or it improved handling once removed (or finally couldn't be bothered putting it back on!)

I'm keen to try it but want to know what to expect (improved rear grip, different balance?) I've only ever disconnected it on my clubbie for a race in the wet so can't really make a fair judgement.

Cheers,

Dunc.

It is all down to what gives you the most confidence to get the most out of the car so as with all settings it really is down to the indivual as LCM was eluding to

Yes, for sure the only real test will be the track, will need to remember to choose a track with plenty of run off wobble will post some feedback in due course.

After my mission in the past year to track down all remaining Clubsport spares in the northern hemisphere, I find myself with one of each of the three diameters of front Nik-links and rear anti-roll bars (0.625", 0.750" and 0.875").
... So I now have a bewildering choice of bars not to fit! smile

laugh

The good news is that the fourth variant 0.00" diameter won't cost you much to acquire to complete your collection.

I would have thought Laurence's dims (they are diameters) above should be right; the smallest diameter one will be a 'soft', the middle diameter one will be a 'medium' and the largest diameter one will be a ........... go on, take a wild guess! biggrin
