Best and worst job on a Radical?
Discussion
Think I have decided the worst job for me is a seat belt change on the old shape sr3
Seat out, gear linkage removed.
Lap belts easy.
Crotch belts need the fuel tank cover removed.
Which is riveted at the bottom and bolted at the top. With little access so I ended up hugging the roll hoop whilst balancing on the sidepod.
Shoulder belts are held above the firewall with the bolts dropping verticlely through the chassis.
Which is conviantly covered by the top bodywork. So you have to wiggle a spanner onto the bolt and a socket on the bolt.
Lovely shredded hands.
Any similarly bad jobs to add?

Once youve learned the cars...given it a bit of thought ,and thought outside the box,Radicals are still 300% easier than Roadcars!!,my highlight[lowlight??} 2.5 hrs hacksawing using a tiny blade near the scavenge pump to remove a seized[on a spacer] paddleshift actuator mounting bolt that had a rounded off allen cap head!,and leaving only a few mins to convert it back to stick shift!!,DIFFS on SR3 OK if you remove the right -large union and depending on chassis age/ spec...BELTS not too bad but brilliant because only every few years..!,changing an SR3 BATTERY when car is hot!!,basically everything with a bit of thought and practice isn't too bad.....the best job on a radical?????.....strapping it back to the trailer and you havent seen Ben from Stores all day.....

I agree even on the more current shape it took me a while. I did not completely remove the seat but had it jammed in an upright position. Not much room to work on the crotch straps, especially when I had to access it twice to readjust the length. I'm not complayning as the seatbelts need to be exchanged only every 5+ years. Most other jobs are relatively easy when compared to road track cars.Gassing Station | Radical | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
