Hi I am new to Radical. I come from Malta and I am awaiting the arrival of my pr6 1300 that I purchased last week. I will be using the car mainly for hillclimbs with the occasional ferry over to Sicily for a trackday. Will be racing against another PR6 1500, 2 Radical clubsports,a prosport, 2 ADR and possibly an SR4 1200.
Can anyone tell me the weight of the clubsport/prosport as I cant seem to find any data on R website.
I know the sr4 is heavier, however adr s seem to be approx 80kgs lighter.
Thanks to all

Hello,

Firstly if using a PR6 for hillclimbing, you should have bought my 1585cc which would have been absolutely perfect for the job.

Secondly, in terms of weight, you will be lucky to if the car is under 500kg. Unless it is one of the very very early PR6's some of which I believe are around 480kg, but everything since seems to be 500+ in standard circuit racing spec..

Though there are some very easy ways of shredding weight ie smaller battery, smaller fuel tank, remove oil cooler (though will most likely need to put it back in if doing trackdays), carbon seat (standard fibre glass one is about 7kg), remove air jacks/lights etc if you have them and thats just for starters.

Thirdly - good luck!

This thread here has some weight related chat:-

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If it helps any my clubsport has all the prosport bits with exception of the (important bit) engine and weighed 462Kg, dry sump all fluids and some fuel. Not too sure the weight difference between the 'busa and the ZZR1100 lumps however.

There was an unwinged clubbie in the classifields stating 404Kg but can't comment on the accuracy of that, my wing/subframe etc certainly added a decent amount of weight though + 10L (I'd have to check back to verify) of fuel. That's circuit spec.

Dunc.

Tonto, would have loved a 1585cc, but was over my budget, unfortunately :-( mine is a 2007 model so hopefully around the 480 mark then.

Hello,
I have a 1300 Prosport that I use for Hillclimbing & Sprinting, she is 495kg with small fuel tank and other bits and pieces removed. I was in Malta for my Honeymoon a couple of years ago and we fancy coming back again for a holiday. It would be good to tie it in when there is an event on. Whats the best ones to come and see and when are they on?

Cheers

Dunc: genuine error by the Vendor; totalled up the corner weights, forgot that those are with F & R bodywork off; as it was an early one, I'd guess maybe 460kg with them on? BTW, cracking job he'd made of it I thought; looked swell.

<46, unfortunately the calendar for this year still hasn t been finalised yet. My favourite two are IMTAHLEB and GNEJNA. The best thing would be to visit our facebook page ISLAND CAR CLUB or else go to www.islandcarclub.com for more info on race dated etc.
The following are the onboards from these two places from my mate s clubbie, since I only have onboards from a Subaru, I am sure you would much rather see his, cannot wait for mine to arrive now :-)

Congrats on the purchase mate, you'll love it I'm sure. Looks like you have some great roads over there to use it on. I've watched a few hillclimbs from Malta on youtube and they look like great fun!

I'm a Radical and WRX owner myself, and am making the trip to Malta next year so will have to see if there are any events on while I'm there and make a day of it. Be sure to post up a few videos/photos once it arrives.

scooby151 - if the car you have acquired is the carbon shelled example from the factory, then I believe you've got a really good example of the marque.
Another has just appeared on the factory website, which I may well go and look at too.....

Did you look at or contemplate the Hayabusa Pro/Clubsport Turbo (currently for sale here, pictured at Castle Combe I'm guessing), looks ideal for an unlimited sprint/hillclimb class?

I've kinda settled on the PR6, having looked at the weight/dimensions/usage of the other cars in the stable. The V8 appeals, but not the pricetag involved upon destroying the engine. There are so many used SR3's out there, with some good haggling to be had.

Anyway, please post a few videos wherever of the car in anger, would be great to see some sun too!

motospanky, I bought my car from Dubai and so I dont think you saw it. The container should be here on the 12th, but I am already hitting alot of obstacles since car is coming from outside the EU. The police and customs are giving me a hard time, they cannot understand that its a racing car and isnt going to be driven on the road.
I have a meeting with the police tomorrow morning to 'TRY' and explain to him certain things. I hope he is willing to listen, coz if not, mmmm, I dont even want to think about it.

Tell them that no PR6 has ever been road-registered, not even in it's original Country of Origin and even though it's coming in from Dubai, that all Radicals are factory-built in the UK, so it's not some half baked prospective lash-up of a kit car built in some ne'er-do-well's garage in some God-Forsaken place somewhere.

If they don't believe you tell them to speak to Radical for confirmation of the same (they'll convey the same, but probably more politely!)

If you tell them it was built by some Pommies they might be even more cautious of it! :P

Thanks James, I will. My heritage is Maltese so will be great to visit, and seeing a hillclimb on the way through would make it even better.
