I should probably say that my car has a radiator cooling fan. If I am in a race with a compulsory pit stop (for handicapping – we do that in the RAF series sometimes) I get ‘my man’ to crack up the blower and blast air through the oil cooler while stationary to stop the oil temp going bonkers (the rad fan cools the water while stationary, as required). After racing, as long as there is no parc ferme shenanigans, I crack the blower up and just leave it for 15 mins blowing air through the rad once all is switched off (the rad fan will only run when the engine is running) to keep the heat soak down a bit. The benefit of the petrol leaf blower is that it is portable, so can be used on either side, anywhere, and I can put ’15 mins worth’ of fuel in so it self shuts off (which also stops it from gumming its carb up as it’s 2 stroke).
As for the model, I went for the one I could get off ebay, used once in perfect condition, for 20 quid. I can’t remember the make, as it didn’t matter at the time. Cheap and working was all that mattered in case it didn’t work and I ended up throwing it away.

We had a similar problem this year whilst running the Turbo SR3 and required an outboard fan setup for warm up's and cool down's. We neatly packaged a small fan unit with a spare battery that will sit in the side pod to do so, snug enough that its possible to drive about the paddock without it falling out. The heat dispersal was great enough for our application so cannot see why it wouldn't suit 3's or 8's either.
