Having taken the plunge and bought a track day SR3 in partnership with my best mate, which is currently at the engine refreshers.

Wanted to get anyones advise as to who you can insure it with for theft and the type of cost if you have. Also to include the trailer, as the car will remain on the trailer while being stored. Obviously we will have a hitch lock on the trailer, the car will be covered and it will be stored in a works unit but this will be open and potentially unmanned for periods in the daytime, therefore want to gauge the avaliability and cost of insuring it against theft just in case.

Any feed back or advise around theft prevention and insurance would be appreciated. Just interested to know what other Radical owners do or views are.

These guys currently insure my Radical - http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/
Covered for theft/damage, whilst in transit, storage etc!

They also include my trailer, spares and tools. From memory i think i am paying around 250quid a year!

I hope you read the small print, last time I looked I figured it would be impossible to meet the conditions for a claim to be upheld.

That makes no sense whatsoever compared to what they charged me for S&T for 2010!!!!!!!!

They also made the right noises relative to what Angus rightly observes; however, noises are one thing, the written word (T&Cs) is something else.

Personally, I found Moris the most cost effective as long as the car plus trailer etc is not worth more than their standard cap value - seem to remember £50K last time I looked.

My car, trailer and tools are insured with OAMPS and they have insured it un-garaged but, as SportsLibre says, when you read the small-print, thieving b*stard types would pretty much have to steal your car and trailer from you while you were actually doing 60mph, along the M1, for you to be able to make a claim.

In terms of prevention (having had my car and trailer stolen in the past, and learned my lesson) - when the car used to live with me - it was fitted with a Denver Boot and a hitchlock; and I installed a proper 'approved' ground anchor and chained the trailer to ground anchor with a proper 'approved' chain and lock.

And even then, I used to park the van across the drive way to block the route.

And even then, I didn't sleep well at night.

Thieving b*stard s!
