Using car for trackdays at the moment so filling up beforehand to save the hassle of repeated fills.
Why does it take so long to fill the tank? I swear it took at least 1/2 hour as the pump had to be run at min speed to stop filler neck overflowing.
Is this normal with SR3? a right pain in the arse.

Strange.

We usually just use a gravity 'waggle' syphon and it takes not more than say 5 mins (spent whistling) to empty a 20 litre Jerry; perhaps a case of 'less (in) is more (quickly filled) ?

I've found the same Trevor, but haven't yet filled in from a pump.

I guess when it comes time to fill it with a pump slow and steady is the way to go!

Using a normal petrol station pump I can get fuel in at about a litre every 7-8 seconds or so. Half an hour does seem a bit long to me.

Petrol station pumps aerate the fuel when releasing. When pouring from a jerry can not much air is added so its much faster. I was under the impression inside the Radical tank is a foam core. If that is true it would also slow refilling from a petrol pump.

We have had no such problems with SR4, PR6, SR3RS. Whether this is through luck or good management. We use a large ( ENSURE its got a filter in it - you'll be amazed how much crap there is ) funnel ( from Machine Mart ) and we "jam" it in the filler neck. We can probably do 20 litres in say 2-3 mins. The obvious difference between that and the petrol pump is that our fill is not pressure sensitive, and that air is not escaping in or out ( as in a fuel pump )
Does that make sense?...maybe answer the questions ?

Yes we did find when topping up from cans that if the funnel was jammed in we could fill up much quicker. I guess that we should fill up from cans instead of the pump.

Does your SR3 have the FIA fuel tank?

If the bag type it has probably collapsed

Nice job getting to the fuel tank, best not done in the dark in Silverstone paddock a few hours before your first ever race meeting grumpy

Did you have a 'collapsed' bag Nick?

Surprised by this; I know they're flexible, but I assumed they still had foam inside (if only to stop 'sloshing') that would have essentially precluded that.

Jen's SR4 was a pretty slow filler from a can. Lots of splashback!

Not a bag tank, we were looking at a fuelling problem with the bright idea that the pump had fallen over which I understand happens in 4's, possibly others too.
