Calling All Radical Owners - Bikesports
Discussion
Hi Guys,
As some of you may know I have been racing in the Bikesports championship along with the odd round or two in the Clubman cup in the last couple of years.
This year has been a good year in the Bikesports championship however the number of competitors dwindled a little towards the end.
Obviously the Radical clubman cup and UK cup are the best places to go racing radicals but the Bikesports championship is a good place to compete also.
It would be a great shame if a lack of numbers saw the Bikesports to become no more as it has been around for a good few years now and due to a lack of interest in other championships that let you race radicals it would be a bigger shame if the radical championships were the only places to race these cars in the future.
It is an excellent place for any radical racer (or other Bike engined race car) to come and get a little more track time, race on a more modest budget, and generally have a really good weekend of fun.
It is with these thoughts in mind I say calling all SR4, Clubsport, PR6, SR3, and Prosport owners. Come and have a few races in the 2012 Bikesports Championship along with your plans to race in the clubman cup.
Please register your interest on the new Bikesports forum on the 750 motor club website if you fancy a few extra races next season.
Your comments are welcome............................

This does look a very appealing series with a good bunch of like minded followers, does it allow turbo'd or supercharged bike engine cars at all?
It is indeed ........... whereas OSS does allow (cc x 1.7 for forced induction last time I looked meaning Class A up against big engined Jades and the like), presently 750MC's Bikesports doesn't (but their Allcomers does I think) I have always been a fan of 750MC. There's always a great paddock atmosphere. The driving standards are usually very good, and bikesports is a good place to compare radicals to some more esoteric and some beautiful machines (speads and stohr in particular)
However perhaps bikesports should consider opening up the regs a little to allow big motors and forced induction cars in.
There are a few out there I am sure who would like to race.
Those of us with stock 1340s might struggle to keep up on the straights. But we can get our control formula kicks in the Radical championship....
just my 2p
Cheers
Martin

Thanks for your comments guys, keep them coming.
At the moment Turbo or super charged engine cars are not eligible.
The Bikesports is open to all Radicals naturally aspirated up to 1340cc with the exception of the Radical SR3 which can run up to 1500cc.
Other Cars such as Speads and ADR etc are up to 1340cc I think and Stohr DSR up to 1001cc.
The whole point of the Bikesports is to allow competitors of this type of car to come down on a modest budget and race with a reasonable even playing field regarding car performance. On the whole if you compare the amount of people whole have turboed and supercharged there Radicals compared to the number of Radical owners with standard or mildly tuned engines the turbo guys are in a minority.
There must be literally hundreds of people out there with naturally aspirated close to standard Radicals that could come and have some fun in the bikesports.
Although the Open Sportscar Series at Castle Combe is another good place to race the Bikesports goes to other circuits such as Silverstone, Cadwell, Oulton, Donnington, ETC. Giving a bigger variety of circuit.
Like I keep saying it would be a great shame to see it cancelled in the future and it would be awesome to get a decent size grid for next year of evenly balanced performance cars.

Hi JamesThe Speads is classified in the same way as the Stohr, so my weedy 1000 car gets to run in Class B against 1300 Prosports, 1340 SR4s, and the like.
This year's class structure is as follows:
A:Radical PR6, Stohr DSR & Speads up to 1340cc; Radical SR3 and others 1301-1500cc
B:1201 to 1300cc; Radical SR4 up to 1340cc; Speads & Stohr DSR up to 1000cc
C:Up to 1200cc including original Radical SR4 plus Powertec Kawasaki 1100 & 1200cc; Radical Clubsport not to original specification; excluding Stohr DSR & Speads
D:Radical Clubsport 1100 Kawasaki to original specification; ADR S1000; Global up to 600cc
Having finally got the 'married' thing out of the way, and pushed the go button for the repairs arising from my little contretemps, at Brands, I should see you out there.

How many were in class D this year?
There were two Clubsports, but only one in Class D.Tally is:
Class A - 11
PR6 - 7
SR3 - 2
Stohr - 1
Prosport - 1
Class B - 7
Speads - 1
SR4 - 4
Prosport - 1
Reynard - 1
Class C - 4
Clubsport - 1
SR4 - 2
ADR S2 - 1
Class D - 1
Clubsport - 1
But as with all of these things, it's a bit of a chicken and egg question, isn't it?
An interesting topic
I will have a Radical next year that can race in Bikesports-and I plan to do the races/circuits that I fancy
I personally think that all championships are likely to have less cars in them next year
Martin Brooks made some decent comments. There must be quite a few cars that are outside the current BS regs, that could run in an invitation class,or in a new class if everybody was ok with that.
For instance, there are a few 1585cc PR6 about that only have a slot in the BRSCC OSS.
There must be a very fine line in running a championship-keeping everybody happy
Is there a good reason why BS started out ok this year and died off towards the end?
Regards
Darcy

In a word (well, three words, in fact) Oulton Park and Pembrey.Everyone says they want to race at Oulton but, when it comes to it, no-one enters and, as far as I know, no-one wants to race at Pembrey.
If I were running the show, I'd do what has happened in the past and have two meetings per year at the best supported circuits - Brands and Snett.
