Hi Guys

It was only a question of time .......... managed to forget to disconnect the rear bodywork loom before removing the rear bodywork the other day, thereby pulling the wires out of the connecting pins.

Here's a photo (other half is bolted to the rear bodywork itself) >

Having managed to dismantle it, whilst I could bodge it with soldering, not being enamoured of bodging, I'd rather replace the pins which are effectively one use only tiny crimp on jobs; they are about 27mm-ish long.

Anyone know where I can buy these (so said, I always get totally lost on RSOnline and I don't want a 1000!) or even better has someone got say a dozen I could buy off them please? I only need three at the mo, but I'll guarantee this won't be the last time I'll do this, so a few spares ready to hand would be good.

By the way, correct in thinking this is sort of Sureseal type? Even if I have to buy some Sureseals just to get the pins, I'd still rather do that to re-pin what I've got rather than replace; it's got a very clever little lock collar that you use after connecting male and female that I really like (even if a non-locker might have meant to plug had just detached itself when we tried taking off the rear bodywork without disconnecting!)

Cheers in anticipation.

Cheers Chris, many thanks indeed, much appreciated - yep look to be Neptune.

I'll call them and then probably send them an old one so they can match to be sure.

Just an update on this.

First time number just rang and rang, next time got the answerphone, left message.

Now nearly two weeks, still no return call ....... for all they know I have a big value enquiry hehe

Managed to gently prise the old ones apart (needed a magnifying glass) and refit by crimping, with a teeny bit of solder flowed in for added security, works fine - have put a small decal on the car to try to help remind us not to do it again. We will of course.

Think I'm going to start a thread on ROC with a list of outfits (of all disciplines) in motorsport who don't call you back when requested and/or don't when they say they will - reckon it'll pretty soon be a long long list - what is it about 'suppliers' in motorsport? - too much mark-up means you don't have to put yourself out to do business?

I solved the rear loom connector problem by not connecting it. No need for lights in the Hillclimb world. smile

I love lateral thinking ........ bit dodgy on the 'go round in silly circles' format with a regiment of complete loons right up your chuff.

I tend to forget also, BUT have come to the conclusion that the brake light switch is so useless (winter project to sort) that if i do connect they just stay on, OFF if stays for now.

Thanks very much for that Gary; that info enabled me to locate them (amongst the millions of items) on RSOnline; in stock and available in the modest quantity I require.

And you know I was moaning about poor service, well yesterday/today, most pleasingly I got exactly the opposite from another outfit> Apologies for cross-threading (especially when it's "Weld Nuts"), but yesterday at about 3.00pm I called Trident and in this morning's post I received their handbound near 200 page priced stock catalogue, PLUS FOC samples of their M6, M8 & M10 Weld Nuts - sods law, they happen not to be the ones I'm actually after, but it's the thought that counts.

Exemplary and a supplier I shall definitely be using in the future > www.tridentracing.co.ukthumbup
