Anyone know how tight the rocker cover bolts should be?

I've bought a new rubber seal/gasket to replace the existing leaky one, but see that the old one had a ridge part way at the carb side of the engine. This ridge fits a "slot" in the rim of the cover, which runs all the way round the rim.

The new gasket is plain (upper surface flat) and I wonder if I have bought the correct gasket?

As ever, thanks in advance

The cam cover gasket should be 'U' shaped all the way round so it fits over the cylinder head edge, you should use a little sealer where the semi circular parts of the gasket fit into the recesses in line with the cams.
As for torqueing the cam cover bolts down, I usually nip them down until the bolts bottom out but only just, don't over do it.

Hope this helps

Ping me a PM and I'll email you the Bike's Official Service Manual, which as well as loads of bike specific stuff that's totally irrelevant, covers such as this.

Be careful to check imperial values; it's easy to miss that they go to in/lbs rather than ft/lbs when bolts are very lightly torqued as in this instance.
