Hi,
Wondering if anyone can shed any light / infor for me.
I had a chap in my Prosport 1300 today and in 5th there was no drive when changing (Told he was going up the box).
The chain is snapped and the clutch pedal has gone to the floor.
The large alloy sprocket has damage to the teeth.
Q.
Does anyone think the clutch gave out?
Chain just broke?
Is this a common thing.

Basically any help or advice would be much appreciated. Also where would anyone recommend purchasing said parts?
Thanks.

when the chain snapped it probably took out the clutch cylinder, {the gold coloured part just above the chain}
damaged sprocket is due to it still turning when chain was making its dash for freedom, by means of a few clunks and bangs and sprocket tooth grining etc
or at least that was my experience!

CTM has probably hit the nail on the head there. If your lucky the gold clutch master may be ok as it may of just smashed the pin out of the way that sits right above the chain sprocket.......

!
On this subject I've been looking for a chain/sprocket guard to protect the clutch slave and gear change mechanism from an 'escaping' chain in just such a scenario. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get such a thing??

Thanks for this, I phoned tech at Radical and they say the same (I will check this weekend).
Many thanks so far.

tonto, no such part readily available off the shelf {to my knowledge}but it is possible to make the same, but quite awkward to fit!
also needs to be robust to withstand the chain breaking at speed, otherwise its another part breaking up to possibly do more damage!!

Here's another one. Doesn't 'look' as HD, but still CNC machined billet. Primary purpose of these seems to be to deal with an inherent weakness in the rigidity of the clutch slave mounting relative to HD clutch springs, but as well as showing a $ price, the copy claims it does what we're interested in not having to worry about >

Pretty sure this one will only work with the standard clutch slave cylinder.
