Hey,

Basically I've just started putting the engine back together and into the radical and it was 1 year ago since I took it out. Unfortunately I've lost the pictures I took of it. So I don't know exactly where everything is suppose to go properly.

It would be great if someone with a clubsport could post up some pictures of where everything goes. This would really help guys.

Thanks in advance!

What do you need to know? My ZZR Clubsport has changed a bit recently but I still know where it should all go and might have some old photos that might help.

Well, 1 thing, wanted to know where the oil pump is.

But also, we have an oil pipe that needs connecting but can't work out how it routes to the wholes (from the back near the exhaust, down to left side). Can't quite see which route it's supposed to take and the angles on the fittings just don't seem to match properly.

The oil pump is inside the engine/gearbox above the oil filter. It is in fact two pumps, a pressure side and a scavenge. It is the same pump whether dry or wet sump. The water pump is driven directly off the end of the shaft within the oil pump, so that should give you a rough idea of the pump in the engine.

Is it a dry sump or wet sump engine? If it is wet sump I take it you are just after oil cooler connections, if wet sump it will be the feed from the oil tank and the feed to the oil cooler, the oil cooler return goes to the oil tank near the top.

Yeah it is a wet sump, we are unsure where the pipes go from the oil cooler onto the engine, does the 1 with the double fitting go on the bottom or the front hole?

Another one of my 'for what it's worth' photos!

Big Health Warning here!!!!!!!!!!; this is a wet sump 'Busa, not a Kwack, but as the principles of Jap inline M/C engines are often very similar, it may help?

To state the obvious, the rear of the car is to the left; the left hand feed goes to the top of the oil cooler/radiator, the one to the right goes to the bottom of the oil cooler/radiator >

Unfortunately That doesn't help much.

I was doing some research and dug up the Kawasaki ZZR manual up, and found this:

I'm not sure whether I should trust this, it shows the 1 with a double end, going into the side and the smaller pipe going underneath. It also shows the 2nd cooler pipe going to the bottom.

Should I trust this, or would the radical version be different? I tried putting the single pipe into the bottom, but the angle doesn't seem right and the pipe has to twist a lot in order to fit.

  • EDIT*
Just found this: http://secure2.cyberware.co.uk/~rad-shop/acatalog/...

Maybe it will help me match up which hose goes where.

Give Radical a ring, I'm sure they'll be helpful and put you right as they have me several times ........... eg got a bit of an issue with the Pro at the mo and I spoke to Simon in Parts today; given the car's a few years old now and the PR6 does things differently in detail in several areas, I was highly impressed with his knowledge and immediate recollection.
