James in England it's a rev counter biggrin

If you've got electronic ignition this can happen (and if not I think it still can)

I have to tap mine to get it going at first starting (and not moving)

For a while I didn't need to do it but then it started (or should I say didn't) again

now is that all clear? smile

you could check your wiring and connectors to the Rev counter are all good, clean and secure

yes you're right with but I've never heard it called a rev meter, but then, why not

well it is more commonly know as a rocker cover

I should have put last time the wire comes from the coil so check the connect that end too

Excellent news, mine does that too! At least the rev counter is easier to get to than the choke cable!

My old B always used to do this. Quick tap on the dial or prod of the throttle and it would be fine. All part of the charm. Current B works ok though.
