I have left my mgb standing for a few months and dusted her off last weekend. Brakes were very spongy and need pumping before they get pressure...is it more fluid or something more drastic...thoughts?

Adjust rear brakes and bleed all round.

If still spongy see if pedal drops under hard pressure in which case there is a physical fault somewhere, usually in a line or cylinder. Rear cylinders can develop leaks and master cylinders can too. Calipers usually just sieze up.

had this in my spitfire, twice, once was a internaly leakign master cylinder so no signs of a leak ( but might be worth checking your foor well mine was covered in fluid when the clutch master cylinder went)
and the second time, i had a collapsed wheal bearing so the wheel could wobble and push the pads when cornering so had to pump.

my mgbs brake system seems much more complicated so not sure if these apply.

leaving classics standing for a few months does them or you no favours

there are loads of excellent driving days during late autumn, winter and early spring, driving it more regularly will keep the car in better overall condition

if necessary buy 12 months RFL instead of 6 yikes

give the whole car a service before using it that way you'll pick up and prevent more potential problems

and best £8 investment for you and your B - an owners Handbook no owner, new owner or potential owner should be without a copy - http://www.mgocshop.co.uk/catalog/Online_Catalogue...

Enjoy driving it (and keep it reliabe) smile
