Far too good to scrap surely ...
Discussion
I try to pop into my favourite local car breakers as most visits usually provide something of interest. Two days ago was no exception. Surely this car does not deserve to be broken and scrapped but, obvioulsy someone saw it that way :~
I have seen cars in worse condition than that example restored.
A few weeks ago, this one turned up at the same breaker yard.
I spoke to the chap in the process of removing the doors. He has several examples of the MGB. This model was part of the limited edition final production run. Looked good when they were new.
I looked at the car again today ~ now minus cylinder head and various other parts. This yard has a soft spot for older Brit cars. They are usually migrated to the back of the rows and may not be cubed for up to a year. More mundane stuff rarely lasts more than two weeks.
This is what it looked like a week ago :~
Some of the cars newish and much older that folks throw away nowadays defies belief!

Good of the scrappers to leave everything open to the elements (as usual), so ruining interior etc.
Idiots !
Wrong! It's the parts vultures that leave everything open! Idiots !
Staff can be seen shutting things at certain times. Some parts vultures are the real idiots and liberty takers. Taking a short cut by walking heavily over a perfect bonnet denting and scratching it.
On a recent visit, I had carefully jacked a car high on one side placing steel wheels under two wheels on that side for safety whilst woring under the car removing gear linkage. Whilst under the car with my legs visible in the passageway, three guys all with Eastern European accents started to undo the bolts on the rear wheel of the car I was underneath! I soon sorted them and away they went. It was someone with a similar accent who ran across the bonnet I mentioned earlier.
