I'm hopefully picking up a brand new MGTF next weekend - however I've never owned a brand new car before, or an MGTF for that matter.

How should I treat it for the first few months - anything I need to watch out for?

Thanks in advance!

My first bit of advice would be to sign up at www.mgfregister.org
Secondly I would make sure its up to scratch (particularly the paintwork quality) and check everything works before accepting, it as I now of a couple of owners of new TF's who have had to wait an age for faults to be rectified due to lack of parts availability for the new cars.

It shouldn't need any running in, just keep it below 3K revs until the oil has warmed up.

I would have considered trading my 2005 TF160 in for a newer version had MG not dropped the 160hp engine frown

In addition to the good advice already provided, if you intend keeping the car for more than a few years, in your position I would progressively run the car in for the first couple of thousand miles or so. Definitely allow the car to warm up before giving it the 'beans' even with 50,000 miles showing on clocks... I'd do that with any car I own and intend to keep for more than afew years.

If you do not intend to service the car yourself, find someone who really knows these cars to entrust with its well being. Not all professional outfits are up to the job.
