looked at a tidy 2000 vvc top spec with air con it has a hydrolic system fitted for the roof not seen or heard of this before the pump unit is under the centre consul the actual tops rams have broken off where they connect to the roof on both sides (dont know why ) so cant really see how its meant to connect??? or work... is it worth repair or just remove and keep as a manual roof.. any views or advise or help more than welcome thanks all

Personally I would remove it and bin it as the power hood mechanisms have always been very prone to failure.
Always seen it as a bit pointless anyway, as its much quicker to raise an lower the hood manually.

My handbook refers to an optional powered hood but if you can remove the mechanism and use the hood manually why bother?

The manual roof operation is so good an electric roof is just ballast. I reckon it's only there for marketing reasons on all these small fabric-roofed convertibles; the MG and Mazda manuals both go up faster than any electric hood I can think of.
