MG ZT 260 V8 Insurance
Discussion
Is there any secret way to insure these?
I'm thinking of buying one and have just checked insurance on them and was suprised it comes out more expensive than my quotes for a BMW E39 M5 and a lot more than an Audi S4 or BMW 330 sport.
Is their a specialist or bespoke company that understands that parts can often still be found or that is prepared to make an agreement that the customer will source parts?
I'm having a problem justyfying one to my wife with a massive insurance hike and a £2250 fuel bill (that's only doing 8000miles a year if it can return 17mpg average).

I insured mine through Coversure (brokers) in their cambridge office. Very helpfull and got me a good premium. 01223 303527 ask for Dee.
Also Peter Best is suppose to be hightly rated and does a lot of 260 business 01376 573357. I did try them for a quote earlier in the year, but after chasing them 3 times gave up!!!
Also Lancasters, through MGOC also very good i found.
Don`t know your age or postcode, but would give coversure a call.
HTH.

That rather surprises me.
I couldn't be bothered running them all through, but I just put my own details through confused.com, changing absolutely nothing except the make and model of car.
Just me driving, fully comp with business cover, same age car and same value declared gave me the following:
2003 BMW M5 - £744.09 with £750 excess
2003 ZT260 - £558.95 with £650 excess
In both cases, the second cheapest insurer (as shown above) was Esure. The cheapest was Sheila's Wheels, but I'm not prepared to undergo the necessary surgery just to save £30 a year!

Yes, esure and sheila's wheels were both cheapest for me with £500 total excess
The M5 was the oldest quote so that may answer the query, I'll go off and do a fresh one now.
edit: 5:30pm:
just completed new quote;
I am quoting for E39 BMW M5
BMW M5 £437 with 1st Central (inc all options: ncd protections, courtesy car, windscreen, legal etc but £700 excess or £473 with £500 excess)
£501 with sheila's wheels (also includes my handbag and contents up to £300 )

Hi there I found when I insure my cars if I put my wife as second driver it is 10%-15% cheaper why?
Because some tit has decided that women are safer drivers with less claims because us blokes are good at second-guessing what the hell they are trying to do, in between their gossiping, fartarsing around for 5 minutes at every junction and roundabout, and applying makeup. I pay around £320 for mine through an Admiral Multicar policy, my other car on it is a Range Rover Sport TDV8 and it is slightly more at £350 for the year. Yep I put my wife on the policy too and it brought it down by about 15%. I've had my ZT260 since new in 2004 and had no no claims as it was my first car that wasn't a company car.
